Rooted in relationship, we help you grow
Working from the ground up. As humans, we have fully interconnected systems: mind, body, and spirit. When one part goes out of balance, the others tend to follow. With an emphasis on your whole self, we focus on getting to the root in order to create lasting change.
We collaborate. We are humans first and counsellors second. We value connection – with our clients, each other and our community. Working together with you and your community tends to be a uniquely successful strategy. If you agree, we communicate with your healthcare providers to facilitate an integrated community of care.
We heal in relationship. As naturally social creatures, we heal best when we are surrounded by people who have our back. These groups of people come in all shapes and sizes (and it certainly does not look the same for everyone), but big or small, community is a force to be reckoned with. Participating in a healthy community has the ability to bring healing, to encourage continued health, and to maintain purpose and energy in life. We work with you and your family to identify ways in which your community can provide support and amplify your growth.
We are proud therapy geeks! We are continuously learning to bring you leading, evidence-based strategies. Our team is skilled in the following approaches:
Synergetic Play Therapy
Using toys and play to explore, understand and process emotions and challenges. Through meaningful attunement we connect with children in a way that is comfortable and supportive. Allowing for growth, deeper self-understanding and better connections with others.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Using the body’s signals to better understand yourself and those around you. By attending to sensations, posture, gestures, and movement we are able to tap into stories that can be difficult to articulate verbally – especially surrounding trauma. Learn to soothe your nervous system, grow your capacity to engage in meaningful relationships, and make positive life changes.

Direct Neurofeedback
Offers relief from symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, addiction, and ADHD by utilizing extremely low-strength electromagnetic currents to disrupt frozen, stuck, and repeating neural patterns and help the brain re-establish healthy ones. As the first clinician trained and certified in Western Canada and a leader in Direct Neurofeedback and development, Ki Speer is uniquely qualified to administer this treatment.

Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is a type of short-term therapy that is used to improve relationships with self, partners or family members. This approach can help create more secure emotional bonds, resulting in stronger relationships, improved communication, and a greater sense of well-being.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that focuses on skill development. Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment (mindfulness), regulate emotions, and develop healthy meaningful relationships with others.

Art Therapy
Art therapy combines counselling with various art materials and directives in order to help each person achieve their therapeutic goals.

Dance Movement Therapy
Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is a form of somatic and creative psychotherapy that works with the connection between the body and mind. A client can expect the therapist to use movement and the body to encourage emotional and creative expression. The therapist is there with full physical and emotional presence as the client explores physically and creatively their experience, relationships and connection to themselves. We use music, creative props, and our bodies to move together and alone. No dance ability or experience is required. DMT can encourage verbal and non-verbal expression, improve mobility and physical capacity, and increase and improve awareness of the body and the self. DMT is an integrative practice which brings together elements of traditional therapies, somatic therapy, music therapy, art therapy, play therapy, and more to cater to the client's needs and goals. DMT is an accessible therapy for all clients including:
- individuals and groups
- adults and children
- people with dementia
- adults with chronic mental health needs
- adults and children with special needs
- trauma survivors
- anyone interested in creative therapies or looking to connect with their bodies
